This separate subsite within the main Avadon Alliance website is designed to encompass information about Avadon's "Live & Earn While You Learn" Skills Training Program hence the more educational look and feel to the design style. In this subsite, you will have access to information about the Program itself, how to Apply for the Program, Avadons Student Commitment, Student Guidelines, and a list of the Benefactors who have been directly responsible for helping fund this unique Initiative.
Through our Program of apprenticeship, education, ongoing counselling from our Partner Charities, and ongoing mentoring from our Partner Businesses, we intend to help give our students a new foundation on which they can build or rebuild their personal and professional success.
To start with, Avadon is focusing mainly on displaced homemakers who have spent much of their adult life supporting and caring for home & family, and have recently suffered a life-altering event (e.g., domestic abuse; death of a spouse; physical, mental, or addictive illness). These women will become students in our Skills Training Program and will learn to provide essential services to others in need, while they earn an income, advance their existing business skills, and ultimately find higher-level employment, or start a business of their own.
The essence of Avadon is about empowering its students, giving them the skills needed, and helping awaken the courage & confidence within themselves to achieve their dreams which allows them to not only escape the destructive cycle of poverty they could so easily become trapped in, but encourages them to help others become self-sufficient as well.
Avadon wants to give those women who would probably never had the opportunity to realize the American Dream, that chance to give themselves and their children, something better, adding another pillar to the foundation of this country.
